A most excellent contest is going on right now, brought to you by Blue Man Group, those super-cool performers of imaginative, musical creativity. Kids in grades 5 through 9 are invited to create an original instrument made from everyday, found objects for the Blue Man Group Invent an Instrument Contest. Entrants must take a photo of their homemade music maker, record a short video demonstrating how it works, and then upload both to blueman.com. There are twenty-five different prizes up for grabs, and the Grand Prize is $5,000 AND a 2-night trip to NYC for the winner and up to 3 family members/guests AND VIP tickets to see Blue Man Group’s Off-Broadway show AND a chance to hear the blue guys play an original composition on your the winning instrument (and more)! Entries must be received by Tuesday, February 15th, 2011. Okay kids, go raid the garage, the craft room, look under your bed, in your closet, and in the recycling bin (always get your parents’ permission first) and create something awesome to submit!
